All-Purpose Dish and Laundry Soap Bar

This amazing dish and laundry soap bar replaces dishwashing liquid, laundry detergent, and even your surface cleaners. What is more, it is gentle enough that you can even use it for bathing.

There is no need to worry about your dishwashing liquid leaking over everything you have packed. One cube of all-purpose soap is all that is needed.

The soap is vegan-friendly with its palm olein and coconut base so no need to worry, no animal products are used, and no harsh chemicals.

This soap is often compared to the popular Boere Seep which is well known in South Africa, as well as the world-famous Savon de Marseilles soap that was the main soap used in the early French days and is still popular today.

How to use your dish and laundry soap bar?

For dishes simply lather up your dish cloth or a dish brush with the soap bar. Wash dishes as normal.

I suggest washing dishes under running warm water instead of in a basin of water. Similar to having a shower instead of a bath.

For Laundry, For stubborn stains rub some of the soap directly into the stain and then wash as normal. Add a little grated soap to the washing machine else wet the soap bar and rub some onto a selection of the laundry until a satisfactory soapiness is achieved.

For surfaces. A small amount of soap on a damp cloth is all that is needed. Wipe the surfaces with the cloth.

Storage. When finished store your bar of soap in a dry container.

Tip – why not keep a container with a bar of our all-purpose soap in your car boot? It can come in very handy when you least expect it to.

How long does it last?

Your dish and laundry soap bar’s life span depends solely on usage. In general, because it is 100% pure soap, it will last very long. If you keep your soap bar dry between usage you will minimize wastage due to soggy soap.

Is it the same as Boere Seep?

Boere seep is traditionally made from the fat of animals. Our dish and laundry soap bar is made from vegetable oils and is basically a vegan version or animal-friendly version of the famous boere seep. The main difference is the oils that have been used to form the soap but apart from that the two products are very similar.

What is Boere Seep?

In the farmstead days, farmers’ wives would melt animal fat into what is known as tallow. They would use the tallow for cooking and to make bars of soap. The soap would then serve as an all-purpose cleaning soap on the farmstead and would be used for dishes, laundry, surface cleaning and even bathing.

Tallow does have a distinctive smell. The smell can be disguised with fragrance or with a great deal of refining with salt. However, tallow soap does tend to be a little harsh on the skin.

Vegan Boere Seep?

What is vegan boere seep? It is pure soap made with plant-based fats and oils instead of animal fats. Typically Palm oils combined with coconut or castor oils are used to replicate the lather and cleaning functions usually found in tallow soap. The soap should be 100% pure without any added fragrances etc as these can be an irritant to some people.

Is Vegan Boer Seep as Good as Traditional Boer Seep?

Yes – there is no difference in the cleaning power of the two soaps. Vegan soap or plant-based soap is just considered to be a friendlier version. Besides, there is no lingering beef smell when you use vegan boere seep.
